CA Convention 2017

CA GOP Convention in Sacramento, Feb 24-26, 2017
Members of the Yolo County Republican Central Committee will be attending the California Republican Party 2017 Organizing Convention in Sacramento Friday, February 24 through Sunday, February 26. The Convention will be held at the Sacramento Hyatt Regency and Convention Center.
A central activity at the Convention will be the election of statewide officers including Chairman Jim Brulte, Vice Chair Kristin Olsen, Secretary Deborah Wilder, and Treasurer Mario Guerra. All are running to be returned to office. Chairman Brulte erased the State Party's previous debt, developed excellent cooperation with the Republican Legislative Leadership, energized the grass roots, and led the effort to purchase the new CRP headquarters in Sacramento. Kristin Olsen just took office to fill a vacancy. She represented the Modesto area previously in the Assembly and more recently as a county supervisor.
During the convention there are two dinner banquets with contemporary conservative speakers.  Friday night's dinner will feature radio talk show host Hugh Hewitt, a TV commentator, an author, and a Chapman University law professor.  He worked under President Reagan as Deputy Director of the Office of Personnel Management, Assistant White House Counsel and other positions.
Saturday night's speaker is Devin Nunes who recently served on the executive committee of the Trump transition team. A seven-term congressman from Tulare, he is Chairman of the House Intelligence Committee and also serves on the Ways and Means Committee. In 2010, Time magazine named him one of the "40 under 40" rising stars of American politics.
The Convention also includes the Board of Directors meeting for the state's fifty-eight county chairs, workshops for delegates, voter labs, and receptions.
