Yolo County Deputy DA Jim Walker Announces Possible Run for Judge
Woodland, Calif. – Jim Walker, a successful supervising prosecutor with the Yolo County District Attorney’s Office, announced Tuesday that he is seriously considering a run for Yolo County Judge. Walker made his announcement at the Woodland Public Library during the Woodland Republican Club’s meeting. The group had gathered to hear an update from Walker on Yolo County’s criminal justice system.
Walker informed the group about the increasing amount of gang and drug activity that is hitting the rural and small communities of Yolo County. Jim further discussed how the lack of experienced judges are backing up the ability of the court system to manage the growing number of serious criminal cases.
Walker has been a prosecutor for the last 13 years both in Sacramento County and Yolo Counties. He has also served 21 years in the U.S. Air Force, currently holding the rank of Lieutenant Colonel and active in the Air Force Reserves.
In May 2007 he was deployed to to provide humanitarian assistance managing a team that helped build medical clinics and schools, and provided much needed medical and dental services.
The Woodland Republican Club (WRC) invited Walker to brief its members on local crime and prevention issues in the county. WRC is a grassroots political organization built upon the shared Republican principles of individual liberty, genuine economic opportunities and leadership in world freedom.
